“What do you feel you’re missing in order to move on?”
The hardest part of making a change is getting started. Sometimes, what stresses us and holds us back is a lack of clarity of what we need to move forward. This is a great question to help your team members gain clarity through reflection, identify their wants and needs, and develop a plan to move closer to their goals. Here are a few additional questions to keep the conversation going:
What would make you feel more prepared for the next step?
What small actions can you take today to move forward?
What kind of support do you need from others to move forward?
Remember that coaching isn’t telling! Coaching is about staying curious and making space for those in our care to become confident authors of their own stories.
