What's your gut feeling about this situation?...

COACHING PROMPT OF THE WEEK

“What’s your gut feeling about this situation”

Learning to trust your intuition can be a valuable skill, and as a leader who coaches, you can help your team members tap into instincts and subconscious wisdom. Questions like this can help them to move beyond purely logical or analytical thinking and consider their intuitive sense of what's happening. Trusting one’s intuition doesn’t mean dismissing logic—it means complementing it with a deeper sense of understanding. You might ask some additional questions, such as:

  • "What does that feeling tell you?"

  • "What's the message behind that feeling?"

  • "What are you willing to do now that you’ve examined your intuition more closely?"

Remember that coaching isn’t telling! Coaching is about staying curious and making space for those in our care to become confident authors of their own stories.
